In a Statement issued Saturday, the local LULAC district condemned “the outright violation of civil rights and the inhuman and uniawful acts which took place under the direction of the sheriff of Reeves County, Tex.” “Specifically,” the statement continued, “LOUCAUCTeels that title three, section 54.02 Of Rights Violations of the Texas Family Code was violated by arrasting children and olzcing them in the same facilities with other criminals, Fur- thermore, the sheriff of Reeves County de- liberately refused to accept bond from a tecognized bondsman of the State of Texas, a complete violation of our state laws.*? - The LULAC Statement refers to events of July 23, when Reeves County deputies arrested 19 adults and eight juveniles og trespassing charges.
