On Wednesday, March 27, 1974, this Division was
contacted telephonically by Jerry Cohen, counsel in
California for the United Farm Workers Union
(tel. 805-822-5571). Cohen related that he had been
a contacted by a person who provided the fictitious name
& of "Fred Schwartz". Schwartz purported to have infor-
ki mation that three people had at numerous times over
- NG the past several years broken into various United Farm
‘ Worker Union offices in California, as well as the
‘ offices of other organizations assisting the UFWU and
_ Yi their activities, including SNCC and the Saul Alinsky
; \ . Organization. Cohen received the impression that
Schwartz was an attorney and was representing one of
the persons responsible for the break-ins. Schwartz
wanted $35,000 for evidence he would provide linking
numerous California growers to t oy ins. Cohen
met with Schwartz on Monday, Mar 19 74, €20ar
