The "Press Enterprise", Riverside, California,
in an article on Pare B-l in its issue of April 28, 1973,
reported that eight Coachelia Valley grape growers were
named defencants in a $32,025,000 lawsuit filed in Buperior
« Court, Indio, by the UFW on April 27, 1973.
The lawsuit alleged that the defendants "maliciously
and without justification, entered into a conspiracy and
systemized campaign of terrorisn, intimication, threats,
assaults, battcries and coercion to forcefully prevent"
the UFi "fron exercising their Constitutional rights of
free speech and expression".
According to the article the suit was a cross-
complaint to earlier legal action taken by the growers
end asked for actual camages of 425,000 pius exerxplary
