“SAN FRANCISCO, March 3 (P).-=
Consul General Fritz Wiedemann
was represented Wednesday as head-
ing a German espionage ring
throughout the Americas, and as hav-
. ing ordered his agents to obtain se-
cret information “beneficia] to Ger-
many .. . in its conquest of the
Western Hemisphere.” 1.
The allegations were infa com-
plaint filed for Mrs. Alice &Crockett,
former wife of a United States ATIDY
officer, who asked $8,000 she said
Wiedemann owed her for a trip to
Germany ip his behalf in 1639.
The complaint set forth that:
Wiedemann received more than $5,-
000,000 from the German govern-
ment for “espionage activity, that he
employed many persons for such
purposes, and that it wegipe duty of
the Princess Stephanie Hoheniohe,
whom the United States is seeking
to deport, to pay these employes,’

was made up of statements which
Mrs. Crockett said Wiedemann made
to her. —
“Statements” Repeated. _
He was alleged to have told her
that he obtained information “to

ama Canal could be made useless,”
that he employed officials of the
United States Gavernment, that he
hired workmen in Vita] industries to
“foment class hatred,” that he en-
couraged strikes te undermine Unit-
‘ ~ ed States defensive strength, and
that he directed the German-Amer-
ican Bund. . :
Wiedemann iso was represented
having saig he “worked together”
with Henryf/Ford and Col. Charles
Lindbergh, and that he (Wiedemann)
was “active in secretly storing large
quantities of ammunition,” partic-
ularly in the Fast and ti New Jer-
sey, “to be used by the... bund

since early in 1929, denied all such
charges when a similar suit was
filed by Mrs. Crockett in superior
court, and his attorney termed the
action a “shakedown.”
“Check Up” Trip.
The consular official was a su-
perior officer of Adolf Hitler in the
World War, and was Hitler's person-
al aid and confidant from Jan. 1,
1935, until coming here
Mre, Crockett’s complaint said
Wiedemann owed her $3,000 for
six months’ service and $5,000 in}
expenses for visiting Hitler and ofher;
high officials in Germany and ascer-|
taining that they believed Wiede-
mann was “properly fulfilling” his
duties as consul general and in the
“espionage service.”
The trip, the complaint said, war
taken after Wiedemann had a “se-
rious misunderstanding”. with the
German government.
The complaint asserted that Wiede-
mano remarked he “used” Colone!
Lindbergh “to lull America and
Americans into a sense of false se-
curity and into believing that Amer-
fea was and is safe from Germany
and German attack.” It said, too.
that the consul general had stated
he “worked together” with Ford “in
furthering the German and Nazi
