Greg Jakobson, 25, reportedly
a mutual acquaintance of Man-
son and Melcher, testified brief-
ly a short time before the indict-|
ments were returned yesterday.
Another key witness during
yesterday's hearing was Danny °
DeCarlo, 23, one-time leader of
a motorcycle gang, who lived
briefly with Manson’s cult at
both the Spahn Ranch and in
Death Valley.
Reliable sources said that
DeCarlo told investigators he
overheard members of Man-
son’s group talk about commit-,
ting the August murders.
He was _a,.witness in the re-
cent trial’of Robert Beausoleil,
31, on charges of stabbing musi-
cian Gary Hinman to death July
25 in Topanga Canyon.
The trial resulted in a hung
jury and Beausoleil. also identi-
fed as a Manson follower, will
be retried next month.

Brought. hefore the jury from
Sybil Brand Institute, where
they are being held as material
witnesses, were Nancy Pittman,
20; Rachel Morse, 19; and Di-
ane Blaustein, 16.
All were arrested on auto
theft charges when police raid-
ed Manson’s camp on the Bar-
ker Ranca on Oct. 12.
The trio provided the final
testimony before the grand ju ry
voted on the indictment.

was taken up by the testimony
of police detectives handling the
two bizarre cases.
Los Angeles police investiga-
tors who testified were M. F.
McGann, Danny Galindo, Har-
old Dolan, Frank Escalante,
Manuel Granado, Jerrome
Boen, Bill Lee, R. M. Lucarelli,
Frank Patchett and R. L. Calk-
ins.
Civilian firearms expert Ed
Lomax also testified.
In addition to the 26-year-old

attack were Jay Sebring, 35, in-
ternationally-known men’s hair
stylist; Vaityck Frykowski, 32,
Polish movie cameraman; Abi-
gail Folger, 26, San Francisco
