LA, to Face Charges
Charles M. Manson was
returned ty Los Angeles
Tuesday night from the
Inyo County Jail in Inde-
pendence, Calif., to face
charges here for the mur-
der of Sharon Tate and six
other persons.
He arrived at downtown
Police headquarters in the
custody of Los Angeles
homicide officers, Sgts.
Phil Sartuche and Manuel
Gutierrez, shortly after
8:00 p.m.
Manson, 35, was clad in
fringed buckskin shirt and
matching pants. His hands
were manacled behind
him.
His arraignment in Su-
perior Court is set for
Thursday morning before
Judge William B. Keene.
Manson was _ indicted
Monday by the Los An-
geles County Grand Jury
along with Susan Denise
Atkins, 21; Charles D.
Watson, 24; Patricia Kren-
winkel, 22; and Linda
Kasabian, 20, on charges
of murder and conspiracy
in the slaying last August
of Miss Tate and four
others at her Benedict
Canyon home.
