The indictments also accused four of. the family members with robbing the Premium Dis- tributing Co., 251 E. Front St., Covina, of $2300 on Aug. 13. Some of the stolen cash was used to buy a van and a semi- automatic rifle which were used ‘in the Aug. 21 holdup attempt at the Western- Surplus Store, 13355 Hawthorne Blvd., according to Deputy Dist. Atty. James We- man. Ideman said the two holdups ‘were part of a plot to free Man- son, who has been condemned to death for the Sharon Tate- ‘Leno La Bianca murders, from custody. a ‘ ‘4s charged only with ithe ‘Aug. 21 holdup. { a’ sixth suspect is believed to ‘have been wounded by police iduring a shootout at the Haw- thorne store. Ideman said the suspect, a young man, may be armed -with the stolen rifle, which is believed to have been converted to an automatic weapon. ; Each of the accused is being « held under $100,000 bond. They were scheduled to be arraigned in the Hall of Justice today. Ideman said the rifle, an AR- 15, was purchased at the West- ern Surplus store by Miss Share several days before the attempt- ‘ed robbery.
