In September, 1968, Watson said, he and Moorehouse: moved to the Spahn ranch and became a part of the family, For the next four months, he testified, he took LSD trips three or four times a week. And during this period, he said, “Manson took our thoughts away." At that time, Watson said, Manson began to set fourth his belief that a race war between blacks and whites was imminent. The war was to be fo- mented by murders. He said Manson backed up his philosophy with ob- scure lyrics to'a number of Beatle records. The title of one, “Helter-Skelter," was the keynote to the upcom- ing race war. "We heard 'Helter-Skel- ter' every night and all day long," said Watson, "and we were on heavy physical acid and mental acid ... one drew the ==—stulf out.of your mind and the other out of your body." He said he believed Mangon's theorythat the blacks would win the war but that Manson wouid find safety for the family in a.
