Mr, DE LA TORRIENTE was not personally acqua nted with Mr. "BEBE" BOZO persona riend of President NIXON who resides in ; cote Wain area, us It was ascertained that Mr. DE LA TORRIENTE and (\ his associate GARCIA MENOCAL intended to arrange an interview with the daily Mexico City newspaper "El Heraldo™ on ; 4/19,20/72. GARCIA MENOCAL stated that. the interview would clarify the position of the anti-CASTRO movement which situation is virtually unknown to the Mexican populace at large since Mexico continues to maintain diplomatic relations with Cuba and has furnished no material assistance to the Cuban exiles, In this regard, Mr. DE LA TORRIENTE explained that his organization and to his knowledge all other Cuban exile groups would not consider attempting to meunt an actio¢ aggression against Cuba from Mexican territory. He stated that the Mexican people in general are apathetic toward the exiles and the Mexican governmmunt is very strong qn the idea of sovereiguty be it Mexigan or Cuban sovereignty and would not permit exile activity of a military nature. /* toe . “eS Mr, DE LA TORRIENTE advised that shortly before departing from Miami for Mexico City on 5/17/72 he was in contact with the president of the organization of the Veterans of the (Cuban Invasion at Miami whom he referred to | as (FNU) PEREYERO. He advised that the latter furnished him information to the effect that several Cuban exiles who were considered to be pro-CASTRO had held a meeting at Gainsville, Florida, a few days before a student demonstration which resulted in some degree of violent activity at the University of Florida, Gainsville.
