Judge RYAN released {MTER on nis own recognizance until August 1;
1951 when he was to post a 4500.00 bond. 11 other dofendants,
excopt AMTER and EcCHRAGH, were remanded to the custody of the
United States Marshal. It is to b3 noted that defendant
BaCURiCH's bail was previously postcd on June 28, 1951 by her

On July 12, 1951 Judge LEARNED HAND of the Circuit
Court of Appoals ordered relensed all dofendants who had been
remanded by order of Judge RYAN on July 11, 1951 until a hearing
could be held to determine ths question raised by the Government
as to the legality of the CRC bail.
On July 13, 1951 Judge RYAN reinstated the bond of
all defendants remanded by him on July 1l, 1951.
On July 16, 1951, after a hearing, Judge RYAN ordered
revoked the bail posted by RE DENICK V. ®IELD as surety for
MINDEL and the bail posted iv the GRE for the defendants listed
abovese Judge RYAN continueé tne above defendants in previous
bond until noon on July 17, 1951 to obtain new bail.
On July 17, 1951 THOMAS SWAN, Chief Judge, Circuit
Court of ippeals, denied the defendants! motion for a stay of
execution of Judge RY¥AN's order of July 16, 1951 revoking bail
provided for the above defendants by the CRC and FREDSRICK V.
FIzLD and requiring new bail by July 17, 1951.
On July 17, 1951 ALEXUDGR HOLTZOFF, District Judge,
remanded MINDEE and all defendants listed above whose bail was
posted by the Ck¢ for lack of suitable bail, with the exception
of FLYIN, who was released on $10,000.00 bail and AMTER.
Bail for the following defendants pending trial, was
posted on the following dates by suretics set out below following
the revocation of the bail posted for the above defendants by
the CRC and for MINDEL by FREDSRICK V. FIELD
Defendant GEORGE CHARNEY was released on
July 13, 1951 when his father, J..COB L. CHARNEY, 1663 Boston
Road, Bronx, Yew York, as surety, posted a property bond in the
sum of 410,000.00, on mencunbored property owned by JACOB L.
CHARNEY and valued at £h1,000.00, located at 1401-5 Wilkens
Avenue and 865 Jonnings Streot, Bronx, New York. J..COB L. CHARNEY
