- "POSTER'S political and theorctical contri-
butions lod to a now appreciation of the tasks in our
work among women throughout tho Party, Indicative of
this is the new awareness of the importance of women's
work registored at our recent 15th National Convention.
In all main roports at tho National Convention, as in
mumcrous state conventions, o now stress was given to
this work particularly as a result of tho unprecedented
upsurge of peace sentiment among tho masses of women
and their significant actions for peace, Representing
o sharp change in tho cxteont of their participation,
in comparison with our last Party Convention, our
Negro and whitc women comrades who attended this Con-
vention reflcctod in rich expericnees their growing
tics with masscs and in goncral, the political growth
of our women cadres. Particularly outstanding wore
the contributions of Negro women comrades, espocially
from the South.
"POSTER'S contributions to our Party's undcr-
stonding of the woman qucstion likewise helped to com-
bat blatant malc-supremacist attitudes in our Party and
progressive circlos., More than over-caution, however,
is still prevalent among many ncn comradcs when this
question criscs, in relation to thoir own weaknessos.
This situation has, however, lcd to a growing sclf-
criticism of many of our male comrades and Party lecder-
ships as regards the woman question. An important
derivative of FOSTER'S contribution was his holp in
ellaying the passivity of many of our women comrades,
who, up to now hed likewise not graspod their special
rosponsibility to the masscs of women. They had not
undcrstood the Leninist concept that Commnist women
must tthomscelvcs bo part of the mass movement of women.!
43 so clearly demonstrated in the upsurge of poace
sentiment among millions of Amcrican women, FOSTER'S
contributions served to strengthen our Party's undor=
standing that in tho all-dcecisive strugglo for peaca,
the women's movement, as Lonin observed long ao, tcan be
at times the docisive part of tho mass movemont.?
