The Clergy and Laity Concerned (CALC) was the y 4 subject of an internal security-type investiration conducted by this Bureau until 1973, at which time it was closed as its activities no longer met the criterion for such investi- gations. SON f The CALC was described as an association of national _ and local groups formed in 1965 in response to the United ~ States action in Southeast Asia. Its primary goal was to bring a total end to the Indochina War and to demilitarize Anerican life. It sought to chance those values which corrupt American public policy, foreign and domestic. The CALC sought the repatriation without reprisals of United States deserters, craftdodrers and fupitive war protestors.
