Coretta King with charges that one-half of the Library Documentation
Project Staff had been dismissed without notice on July 31, 1970.
At the aforementioned news conference it was announced that
Doctor Julius &. Scott, Jr., had been appointed First Executive
Director of the MLKMC replacing Doctor Vincent Harding who previously
had also been in charge of the Library Documentation Project, and the
Institute of the Black World (IEW), 87 Beckwith Street, S. W., Atlanta,
another facet of the MLKMC. Harding, the article said, would hence-
forth direct the IBW.
The Atlanta Journal and Constitution on Page 1A of its
August 17, 1970, edition published an article captioned, “Prospects
of King Center Shrunken by Tight Budget", bylined Bill Montgomery.
This article related that the Library Documentation Project of the
MLKMC was currently $81,000 in debt.
