AT 9-2573 handled by Miss McDONALD. She has been previously finger- printed under the Summer Intern Program. Miss MCDONALD stated Mrs. KING has not made any commitments to date to speak at the University of Maryland as previously requested by a fraternity at that institution. Instant letter is made up of cut-out newsprint, | states "Africa or Death by Lynching Take Your Pick! The Ku Klux Klan". With the letter there is a picture in a rural setting, of a hanged black man with his hands tied in front. The letter is wrapped in tinfoil, came in an envelope postmarked 3/5/76, Maryland. It was addressed to Mrs. MARTIN L. KING, JR., 234 Sunset Avenue, N. W., Atlanta, Ga. There was no return address on the envelope. ' REQUEST OF THE FBI LABORATORY — The FBI Laboratory is requested to search this material through the Anonymous Letter File and conduct any other appropriate examination necessary. Results of the Laboratory examination should be furnished to the Office of Origin. The FBI Identification Division is requested to process the enclosed threatening letter and envelope and tinfoil for any latent fingerprints of value. Results of the Identification Division examination should be furnished expeditiously to the Office of Origin. The original threatening letter, envelope and tinfoil wrapping can be retained by the Bureau or,sent to the Office of Origin, inasmuch as Miss McDONALD has stated she does not desire this material returned to her or Mrs. KING. LEADS BALTIMORE DIVISION AT COLLEGE PARK, MD.. (1) Will, upon receipt of the FBI Laboratory and FBI Identification Division examinations, present this matter
