On July 9, 1968, a confidential source
advised some employees of Southern Christian
Leadership Conference (SCLC) were under the
impression that Coretta Scott King, widow of
Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., former President,
SCLC, planned to depart tha United States on‘ that
date or July 10, 1968, ie King expected to be. - ik

On July Ll, 1968, smrce advised that some
SCLC employees understéod Mrs. King and Mrs, Bennette
had left the United States (destination unknown),
on July 10, 1968, for a period of twenty six days.
Source pointed out that on July ILI, 1968, he had
learned via the news media that Mrs. King had stated
she would be gone from her Atlanta, Georgia residence
for several weeks. It was also reported that she
would spend this time at an undisclosed secluded
location in order to concentrate on thé preparation
