Bureau memo dated 4/17/63 stated that the Atlanta Office had advised that on 4/17/63 Mrs. Martin Luther King, Jr., Harry Belafonte and Mrs. Ralph Abernathy had reservations on Delta Flight 631 from Atlanta to Birmingham. ' The Birminghan PD had furnished information that a group of Negroes were to meet on above date at the 16th St. Baptist Church to discuss voter registration matters and thereafter march on City Halli. ~6-4-647 p.l 157-6-4-633 p.1 (ab chit of Police Jamie Moore, Birmingham) Files of the Birmingham ‘Office revealed that on 4/18/63 Mrs. Martin Luther King, Jr. visited her husband, Martin, who was confined in the Birmingham City Jail, and she also talked to members of the "the press".on the outside of this. jail. 157-6-4-683 encl. p.2 a _ The 6/20/63 issue of the "National Guardian" contained an | article entitled, "Women's Group Holds Its Annual National Conference, which revealed that the Women's Strike for Peace (WSP) (62-107350) ' met in Urbana, I11., June 7-9, 1963. This article set out some of the accomplishments of this conference and indicated that a committee from WSP would consider a woman for President in 1964.
