This reference is a Bureau memorandum dated 4/1/65 which. -~
pertained to a conversation between Governor Leroy Collins, = 9 =) 2°°..-
62-101828) and a Bureau official in regard to Collins’ criticism
of the FBI in regard to discrimination in employment of Negroes.
During this conversation Collins was furnished information concerning
Martin Luther King and informed that Coretta King had stated that

The 4/4/65 issue of "The Detroit Free Press" contained an
article captioned "800 Fete Mother of Negro Revolt" that pertained
- to a dinner given in honor of Rosa Louise Parks, who touched off the
Negro boycott of the Montgomery, Alabama bus system in 1955. Coretta
Scott King was the speaker at this affair which was held in Cobo Hall,
Detroit, Mich. on 4/3/65.
The 4/4/65 issue of "The Detroit News" published an article
captioned "Dr. King's Wife Here, Bares 5,000 = Student Protest Plan"
which pertained to a massive civil rightscampaign in the South during
the summer of 1965 by college students. This article revealed that
Raiph Abernathy (100-442706) accompanied Mrs. King to Detroit.

The “Hyde Park Herald," a south side Chicago newspaper, of
4/28/65, carried an article which revealed that Mrs. Martin Luther King,
Jr.,; Komen's International League for Peace and Freedom (WKILPF) member
in Atlanta, Georgia, would speak on the theme "Peace, Jobs and Freedom"
at the Fifteenth Anniversary Celebration of the WILPF to be held §/1/6§
at the Conrad Hilton Hotel, Chicago.
