Cooper" contact hin. was then a Contributing Editor of hew stationed in Los Angeles and the adve his home telephone number and indicated trav 2&8 represented a national news magazine. On or about February 1, 1972 Karl Fie.cir received two telephone calls froma "“Setr on- who in subsequent perscnal contacts identiia as Jack Lewis, the caller stating that he kn. identity of "D.B. Cooper" and coulc arrange on interview. In response to this information Karl Fle. flew from Los Angeles County, California wa Hi Gounty, Washington on or about February io, _ and checked into a ground floor room at the Inn which had been reserved for him by Ja2k alias “Seth Thomas." ‘3.8. Coo 2 Re ere x te . 2 . fhe individuals igentifying*themselves as “Sevh | Thomas" and "D.B. Cooper" requested forty five thousand dollars for the story and Gevag.. the hi-jacking.
