At. the inquest of the death of the mayorial candidate, Ness asks embarrassing questions of the rigged coroners meeting and causes some concern to the police chief who is inthe payofthe mob. ss Le : -. The inside man learns that the mob plans to kill the Gab driver because he refuses to take an extended vacation from the area. Ness and one of his men follow the two mobsters who take the cab driver to an abandoned mine and confront ' them just as they are about to Kill the cabbie. A fight ensues. Ness and his man overcome the hoodlums and learn that the headquarters of the mob is located in a . rear room of the police department. Just as they are about to leave, a third member : of the mob arrives and starts shooting. The mine caves in trapping the two mobsteryy but Ness, his fellow agent and the cab driver manage to getout. - 22 +i. __.
