DU BOIS, who is Chairman of the Peace Information Center, 799 Broadway, New York City, was indicted on February 9, 1951 for failure to register with tho Nearnaentmant af Waetian whkhanm $he fawme “af £¢#hroea Tamatamn Aranta Registration Act. The indictment was returned by a Federal ‘Grand Jury in Washington, D.C. The "Worker" dated February 11, 1951, page 1, column 1, carried an article which states that Doctor W.E.B. DU BOIS, upon learning of the indictment of the Peace Informa- tion Center, expressed a "“desp sense of shock", He declared thet since the Peace Information | Center vhad | disbanded several months &EC, I must assume that ths Depar tment ! 's action da an effort to frighten into silence the tremendous feeling for peace now being expressed throughout our country". The "Worker" dated February 11, 1951, page 10, column 4, carried an advertisement entitled "Negrc History Week at the Jefferson School, Dedicated to the Struggie for Freedom and peace", This advertisement sets forth that on Monday, February 12, 1951 at 8:00 p.m., there will be held a meanantian fran Rhastar UW tf oR NI? Du BOIS, the renowned 83 year old educator, historian, author and elder statesman, will be tendered a reception tonight by the Jefferson School of Social Science.
