the past, advised on October 12 and 13, 1953, that at the
Netional Conference on the Rosenberg = Sobsl1l Gase held on
October 10 and 11, 1953, at 410 South Michigan Avenue,
room 602, Chicago, Illinois, W. =5.B. DUBOIS of Mew York
was elected to the Executive Committee of the Comuittese to
Secure Justice in the Rosenberg ~ Sobell Case,
MORTON SOBEL, JULIUS ROSSNBIRG, and ETHsYL
NOSSNELLS were convicted on hierch 29, 1951, in the United
States District Court, Southern District of New York, of
conspiracy to commit espionage on behalf of the Soviet
Union, SOBSLL was sentenced on April 5, 1951, to thirty
years imprisonment and is currently serving his sentence
at tho Federal Penitentiary, Alcatraz, California. JULIUS
end 2THEL ROSZNBRG were sentenced to death on April 5,
1951, and were executed on June 19, 1953.
The "Daily Uorxer," issue of June ly, 1955,
pase 3, colurm 1, contains an article which stated that
br. ‘J. &. B. DUBOIS, yesterday, issued a statement that
this nation can never be a democracy until MORTON SOBELL
receives a fair trial. The article quoted DUBOIS as
saving "STHEL and JULIUS ROSENBERG have been judicially
killed for no crimeesesel am astonished and indignant that
MORTON SOBILG is in jail when the accusations against him
have never been prcven, when his accusers, for the most
part, are self-confessed liars, and when the courts have
never given him a fair chance to prove his innocence,"

Know" by i. 3. B. DUBOIS, which set forth an exerpt from
an address delivered by DUBOIS at a recent New York
meeting sponsored by tne National Committee to Win
Amnesty for the Smith Act Victims, 667 Madison Avenue, New
York City. DUBOIS mentioned ne kmew ESN DAVIS, but had
not seen him for many years after he (DAVIS) left Atlanta
