the above letters. This envelope was postmarked at Los Angeles and dated
Jansary 8, 1941. The envelope contained a piece of white paper about: 34% x 4
wa which was stamped a printed message "Death to F.D.B:-and the British.*
WASSCH advised that siailar envelopes with similar writing were sent to the . |
police chiefs in New Orleans, Kansas City, and possibly other cities which were
postmarked at Los Argeles and dated _Senvary 8, 1941.
WASSOM further stated that be felt that ‘the printing’ on the ‘elip
of paper was done by a rubber stacz printing press such ss the kind purcsased in
a Woolworth store for 20. cents. He added that. be bad purchased such a printing -
preas and had compared it with the printing on the slips sent to the police

machine through which the letter went on being cancelec and that the canceling
machine: suahers 1 through 12 were located in the Terminal Annex, Los Angeles,
and that el) letters in the possession of the Secret Service attributed to the
unknown subject were canceled at the Terainal Annex.
WASSON further advised that nis investization cf the puper used
by the subject revealed that the paper came froma ruled tablet siich could be
purchased | in any 10-cent store and that the envelopes were common envelopes which
could likewise be purchased in a ten-cext store; that neither thy envelopes ner
tne paper contained any watermarks.
On September 1, 1942, photostatic copies of the two letters
received fraz the Secret Serve, one dated June 20, 1940, and one dated Aprii vac
27, 1941, were furmsarded to the Technical Laboratory of tha Burean for comparison
