He knew of no clubs whatsoever and had never made any statemerts to the effect that such existed. He felt that the negroes were more independant tnan they had been in the gst, arm that their attitude anet be dua to some outaida influence, eer Er TTR Cedar Bluff, stated he wuld feel a ehange in the negroes! attitude, Dut that he knew'of no organisation among them of any nature. He had heard ELEANOR CLUBS existed elsewhere in the state, but md no knowledge of any in that vicinity. At_West Point, Mississippi a: County, advised he had investi gated every ruma tha en called to his attention and was convinced there were no Eleanor Clubs in Clay County, ees advised she had several reliable negroes enploy nthe roast Office and they bad told her that there was no such organization to their knowledge in the County. The negroes in Clay County are all "Country negroes” and cause very little trouble. They are all willing to be drafted ami go without complaint.
