Organization On sugust 21, 1945, SIDNEY HILLW\N made a one day stop in Philadelphia | to discuss the Political ‘Action Committes program with about forty of the organi- zation's state leaders, at the Bellevue Stratford Hotel, Pom secording to items appcaring in the press, he stated that the Political iction Committee was going ahead full blast wit! its organizational program and is establishing contacts with various groups in orceporation for the 1946 Congress- djonal elections. He mado a bitter attack upon the industry sponsered Committee For Economic Development and urged the CIO lcadcrs to actively back the CIO Six Points. according to Confidential Informant T-1, no business was transacted at this meting beyond listening to a speech by HILLMN. No aetive stups were taken for the reorganization of the state Political ction Committee, and, aceord ‘int to the informant, the stato committce was almost completely inactive during the Summer and Fall of 1945. Dinner for Mrs, ROOSEVELT Confidential Informant T-1 advised that during the Fall of 1945, Mrs. - ROOSEVELT had made an arrangement with the National Citizens Political ction Committee, of which SIDNEY HILL:LN is the honorary chairman, and EL:ER .. BENSON, the chairman of the Executive Council, to mike a series of eight speeches through out various citios in the United States at dinners to be sponsored by the State Political Action Committecs.
