"prominent artists and Scientists have supported the Committee's work. MNS, aNOR
ROOSEVELT, as Honorary Chairman, has spoken on behalf of the Committee and former
Governor HERBERT Hs‘LEHiul, in a letter to the Canmittee a year ago, testified as
to the need fcr relicf in Yugoslavia and sent his best wishes for the success of
the Committee's efforts,
‘ "The work of the Comittee has teen planned in close cooperation with
UNUa, U-S. Government igencies and the Yugoslav red Cross, It has raised
%3,113,710.56 in cash, used elnthing and “6ther contributions in kind. Food,
clothing, materials for the blind, medicines, mob*‘le clinics, sanitation trucks,
ambulances, jeeps for rural physicians, hospital eosuipment ani tools for recon-
struction have been purchased in america, all material pas been consigned for
distribution to the Yugcsiav Red Cross, a branch of th&J[nternational Red Cross,
Special attention has been given to the needa of children,~ among whom the inei~
dent of tuberculosis is appailing. A propos of this, Secretary of State_GEORGE
SHALL, a few weeks ago, emphasized the importance of continuing and extending

"The purchase and shipment of relief materials and tne fund raising in-
cident thereto, have veen the sole activities of the committee, The officers
state categorically that at no time aid in manner has the Comittee departed from
the purposes for which it was chartered. This is corroborated by the findings of
the Government agencies mentioned above, under whose supervision the Committee
has continually operated.
