NY 1 ~89044 firs. ELEANGR ROOSEVELT was then presented with a plaque for an orphans home which was presented tc her by the Yugeslav Ambassador, SAVA KCGSANOVICH. In her speech she stated that the fault of a nation to respond in aiding the suffering was not the favilt of the leaders, but was that of the pecple and urged these prescnt to write their representatives and inform them what they wanted. HARRY JUSTIZ then read a resolution which was adopted coneerning the use of food as a political weapon against the Yugoslav povernment. JOHANNES STEEL was the next speaker anc presented five plaques to KOSANOVICH for orphans homes bearing the names of “HENDELL WILLKIE, MARY WC LEOD BETHUNE, ALBERT. EINSTEIN, the late Senator GECKGE NCRRIS and DYIGHT D. EISENHOER. ~ LJUBO LEONTIC, Yugoslav Ambassador to England, was the next speaker and thanked the United States forher aid in establishing the United Nations and asked for peace and strength of the United Nations. The last speaker of the cvening was ALEX BEBLER, Deputy U.S. Forcign Minister and UN Delergatc, who made no significant statement other than urging fricndship between the twe countrics,. The writcr was able to obtain copy of the resolution which was approved by the mecting and read by MAFRY M, JUSTIZ. In this resolution was stated, we are deeply comeccrncd because the State Department cf cur country aprears to have formulated a rclicf rolicy which will bar heroic Yugoslavia from American heln, apparently because its pecple have’ determined to make pclitical and economic changes in their government."
