The Anna Ts Jeanes Fund, comributed in the amount
of one million dollars by this indivicual who resided
in Philadelphia in 1907. The fund is also to be used
for the benefit of small schools for nozroes in the
Southern States principallye

The Virginia’Randolph Fund, contributed by an in-
divicual of this Name and amounting, es of June, 19113,
to $26,511.19. This contribution was the results
of the joint contributions of 450 Jeanes Teachers
and was raised for the purpose of expanding the use of
Jeanes Teachers in the Southern States.
} This pamphlet further reflects that the Southern
2 | Education Foundaticn, Ince was incorporated under the
7 laws of the state of New York on June 1C, 1937 for
j the purpose of administering the above described funds.
5 The objectives o: the Foundation are stated to be
' the cooperation with public and private school officials
and others in improving educational and living condi-
tions with special regard for the needs of the hegro
race. The Treasurer of the Corporation is the Mamfacturers
Trust Company of New York City. There is an Investment
Committee of four members composed of the President of
the Foundation, a second Vice-President - President of
the Chase National Bank, a Vice-President of the an:rican
Telephone and Telegraph Company and a partner in Spencer-
Trask and Company, Investment Hankers.
The pamphlet describes the activities of the Foundation and they
appear to consist of improving educational conditions of negroes in the
Southern States This is accomplished by having the Jeanes Teachers
teaching in the schools, through the medium of radio programs, publiza-
tions, college and school grants and minister institutes for negroese
