Seattle, Washington, Allen Poneroy, who is active in the prosecution of
Hicolai G. Redin was contacted on the evening of July 6, 1946, by a United -:
Prese reporter from San Francisco, California. reporter stated that
the United Press had picked up a ruror that J elt, Rugh DeLecy, and
2 " 4n the Redin trial, Pomeroy stated that two United Press reporters supposedly
_ had been sent to Seattle, Washington, from San Francisco, California, to run
down this rumor.
Mr. Pomeroy inquired of the Seattle Field Division if that office
had any information indicating the above-named persons were acquainted with
Redin. He was advised that approximately two months ago James Roosevelt
was in Seattle in connection with the Independent Citisens Committee ef arts
and Sciences, and while in Seattle the Comittee held a reception for hin
at the howe of Mrs. Benjamine Lezin. Mra. Lesin is a very close friend of ‘
the Redin family and was born in Russia. Mr. Pomeroy requested the Seattle
Field Division to verify the rumor concerning the appearance of the above
individuals as defense witnesses.

for this Bureau to contact directly Nrs. Eleanor Roosevelt, James Roosevelt, .
aod Hugh DeLacy, end in view of this fact no inquiry into this matter will be
wade by the Bureau without a specific request from your offidj.
