Hoover: | _ Will you be gracious enough to send us a letter of tribute for in- clusion in the Golfen Book of World Tributes which will be presented to ' Uf urs. Eleanor Bassovelt? me The presentation will be made on June 1, 1949 at the Waldorg- Astoria Hotel, New York City, at the reception which will mark the publi- cation in McCall's zine of Mra. Roosevelt's new memoirs. Entitle e 3 I Remember", the memoirs will appear in McCall's in seven installments beginning with the June issue. Mrs. Roosevelt's story spans the years from 1924 to that day in 1945, when Mrs. Roosevelt closed the door of the White House, following her husband's death and Harry S. Truman's assumption of the President of the United States. We believe that these memoirs are a great contribution to an r= ’ standing of the 20th century, and that their publication is an auspicfous occasion for letting Mre. Roosevelt know, through this Golden Book Se" ’ World Tributes, the high esteem in which she is held the world ovéby | leaders of mankind like yourself. Because of the shortness of time, may we have your message of trib- ute to Mrs. Roosevelt by May 20th for inclusion in thie Golden Book? Thonk you for any courtesy you may show in this matter. ‘ Ls : f a ; Respectfully yours, Otis L. ese Editor-in-Chief | McCall's Magasine ie 3.4 (oles ‘U.S. Departuont ef Justice Butlding RECORDED - 82 “FO.
