The note was attached to the door with black rubberized friction tape, is on yellow paper measuring approximately u"xt" and reads as follows in handprinting: pase ees "I am going to kill Me Carthy if he comes to town (Hays) or Logan. (signed) "The Panther" . also advised that at approximately 1:30 p.m. the same Democratic Campaign Head- quarters, telephone number 628-8913, received a telephone call, on July 17, 1968, to the effect that Logan would be killed if he came to Hays, Kansas, on July 18, 1968. The caller was believed to be a male with a deep voice. Neither Logan or Me Carthy in/Hays, Kansas, on July 18, 1968. Logan's .., full name is James K/\Logan of Lawrence, Kansas, who is eS campaigning on the Democratic ticket for the United States ~ Senate. _ ; Above described note maintained at Police Department, Hays, Kansas. Special Agent Jack Brady, United States Secret Service, Kansas City, Missouri, was informed of the above threats at 2:55 peme, July 18, 1968, by Special Agent George A. Arnett.
