ments by the May Federal Grand Jury.
Of 75 true bills returned 19 were
against alleged lottery operators and
10 against bankrupts. The rest repre-
sented prohibition lew violations and
other offenses.
Particular emphasis was placed on
the bankrupt indictments. Recently
representatives of business howses all
over the country, testifying before a
Senate investigating committee in
Washington, charged that Philadelphia
was the “easiest” city in the country
in which to conduct fraudulent bank-
ruptcy proceedings. .
