+3 aa 3 Beparhnent of Justice St.Louis, Missourd August 15, 1952, i r 7 Vv Director, . 7” United Stetes Bureau of Investigation, & Washington, D. C. Dear Sir; Reference is made to your letter of August 11, 1952 relative to the mthod of booking prysonere by the St.Louis Police Department. ~ It is believed thet the necessary arrangements made by the Agents at the time of interviewing and ar ranging for the apprehension of prisoners wanted by this Bureau, will eliminate any possibility of the St.Louis Police Department booking any Prohibition prisoners as "held for the United States Bureau of Investigation". It ia also believed that the commanding officers at the var ious precincts are sufficiently familiar with the viola- tions over which this Bureau has jurisdiction, to properly book the prisoners. However, in order to avoid any poassi- bility of booking Prohibition prisoners for this Burem, contact will be had with the officer in charge of the various outlying precincts and the purport of the instruc- tions forwarded by means of the St.Louis Police Journal will be explained to them. Very truly yours, Special Agent in ne et ee ree wee ere eee omy. of fd “ss ove pps { : P. O. Drawer 1457 . AUAI5 on " “4
