EN TAL that, according to Siegel, the approval for the hotel building at Las Vegas had been given and the stop order issued by a man named Bender who was head of the Civilian Production Administration in San Francisco, Bones Femmer has been identified by the San Francisco 0 as Elmer Mi. Siegel." - d2-8151E-79 CONTACT VWLTH BUREAU 7 Lg ONT CONCERNING SINATRA Lee Mortimer of the New York "Daily Mirror" conferred with Mr. Tolson cn the afternoon of lay 13, 1947, to inquire for information concerning Frank Sinatra. He left a photograph taken of Frank Sinatra in Cuba and asked if we could identify one individual shown in the picture. Mortimer was specifically interested in Sinatra's association with Villie Moretti of Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey and was interested in Sinatrats arrest on a sex offense, Mortimer was advised that the Sureau could not give him any official information or be identified in this matter in any manner, Mortimer advised Lr, Tolson that he understood that Colonel Fain DfOrsey, alias Charles Conley, was arrested in the spring of 19h6 for smuggling narcotics from Mexico to the United States and at the time of his arrest was driving a station wagon wiich belonged to Sinatra. He indicated that Sinatra nad made no effort as of that time to secure resossession of his station wagon, Mortimer said he had also learned that possibly DtUrsey would furnish enough information to the Narcotic Bureau to include Sinatra in a conspiracy charge. He further stated that ne olanned to aave the Hearst office arrange for him to see ur. Anslinger of tne Narcotic 3yreau in an effort to run tnis story down. memorandum fro ir.
