On July 19, 1948, Jdmes B. Matthews, former Research
Director for the Dies Committee, while teatifying before the
Washington State Joint Legislative Fact-Finding Committee on
Un-American Activities, turned over sn exhibit to the Committee
which listed the officials of the Independent Citizens Committee
of the Arta, Setencea and Professions. The exhibit was not
dated end the testimony did not reflect the time to which the
exhibit related. Frank Sinatra appeared on this exhibit
as one of the Vice-Chairmen of the orgmization. (100-351006-3, p. 63)

According to the "News Bulletin,” issue of October
3, 194, published by the Joint /nti-Puscist Refugee Committee,
Frank Sinatra "recently" contributed ¢100 to the organization
in response to a request for 4 contrictution.
There was made available to a representative
of this Buresu a copy of "The witness," issue of September 6,
1945, in which it is set forth that Frank Sinatra would be
one of the speakers at « mass meeting to be held in Medison
Sguare Garden in New York City on September <l, 1945, on
behalf of the Republic of Spain. It fs set forth thut the
meeting was arranged by the Spanish Refuges Appeal | of the
Joint Anti-~Faseist Refugee Committee. ~e
