(91-5535-6€616 page 93) The Generai Investigative Intelligence Files of tre New York office, dated April 15 through October 15, 1954, reported that Frank Sinatra was alleged to have been present in 1951 ata meeting of members of the Mafia in Cuba. Lucky Luciano was aiso reported as attending this meeting. (62-75147-34-205 page 105) As of February 16, 1954, Sinatra was listed on the license of the Sands Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada, a gambiing house. (62~75 147% 44-576) "-* The "Daily Worker" an east coast Communist newspaper, of April 10, 1951, contained an article captioned "Where Are the Big Stars Who Once Opposed the Un-Americans?" The article mentioned Frank Sinatra ag one who had at one time made strong statements against the HCUA but was now silent. (100-1396754-835 page 43) The New Yors "Da ly News" of April 27, 4951, reported that on the preceding day the Stop-Communism Committee was launched to the entertainment wmorid,™ Ota ter Oe oe s + Nossa wns rans Ghul &&U & feos we ft he we was listed as participating in a raily sponsored by the Committee. (100-138754-835 page 58) In 1954, Sinatra volunteered to go to Korea for the Christmas season to entertain tre troops. However, nis ofyer was refused by the Army. On September 16, 1954, Sinatra talked with Aray officers regarding tne Army's refusal to permit_him to entertain troops in Korea, and the Army tnformed him that the refusal was based on various newspaper articles to the effect that he had been connected with various Communist front activities. Sinatra stated at that time that he hated Communism and /he had never been a member of a Communist organization. t , - O-
