New York, Sept. 20. — Frank
Sinatra charged today that his re-
cording career at Columbia “quick-
ly went into a decline” when the
label’sa A&R chief Mitch Miller be-
an giving him “inferior” material
all of which “curiously bearing the
BMI label.” Charges were made in
a telegram to the House Judiciary
Committee Anti-Trust, Sub-Division

when they accept telegrams as evi-

Singer’s telegram from Las
Vegas asked for anti-trust action
to abolish “practices which create
restraint and take from the artist
those creative freedoms which are
so necessary to his talent.”
Sinatra contended that before
Miller became pop A&R chief at
Columbia he enjoyed a free selec-
tion of material which “I may
modestly say resultdd in a modi-
cum of success for mle. Before Mr.
Miller’s advent I haf a successful
recording career which quickly
went into a decline: Rather than
continue a frustrating battle, I
chose to take my talents elsewhere.
