that it was unknown if BROWN was in custody and directed persons
unknown to leave for the out-of-town place.
Arrest of BROWN was based on warrant issued February 7,
1977, at Portland, Oregon, after return of indictment in Portiand,
charging BROWN with robberies of:
l. Crater National Bank,
South Ashland Office
July 13, 1976;
2. The Oregon Bank
Medford, Oregon
August 2, 1976;
3. The First State Bank of Oregon
Sunset Office
Portland, Oregon
October 28, 1976;
4. U.S. National Bank of Oregon
Raleigh Hills Branch
Portland, Oregon
January’4, 1977;
5. U.S. National Bank of Oregon
Wilsonville Branch
Wilsonville, Oregon
February 7, 1977.
All of the above are in violation of Title 18, U.S. Code,
Section 2113 (a).
The Grand Jury also returned indictments on September 28,
1977, charging SHERMAN and BROWN with one count each of possession
of a firearm by a convicted felon, in violation of Title 18, U.S.
Code, Section 922 (a) (6), 924 (a), and issuing a false statement
in acquisition of a firearm in violation of Title 18, U.S. Code
Appendix, Section 1202 (aL (1).
Additionally, a superceding indictment was obtained at
Portland charging JOHN WILLIAM SHERMAN with robbery of Western
Branch, Empire Branch, Coos Bay, Oregon, June 8, 1976, and bench
warrant issued September 28, 1977, charging bank robbery violations,
Title 18, U.S. Code, Section 2113 (a). ;
