by JOHN ARTHUR WILSON
Based on a fingerprint on a let-
ter, the Federal Bureau of Investi-
gation said today they believe the
‘gede may be responsible for re-
cent bombings at local auto deal-
ers. ;
Ray Mathis, F.B.1.“spokesman,
said the bureau received a letter
-esterday claiming responsibility
ior the bombings, which had the
| right thumbprint of John W. Sher-
man, fugitive brigade member.
Mathis said the letter, which ap-
pears to be authentic, described
the bombs “in great detail.”
The letter said the brigade
placed.bombs at auto dealerships
“in support of” the five-month-old
strike of Auto Machinists Local
sion, the King County Auto Deal-
ers Association, and 8B.B.C.
Fugitive’s thumbprint :
on letter, says F.B.1. |
revolutionary George Jackson Bri- .
It was also sent to KOMO televi-
Dodge, where a bombing took
place Saturday night.
B.B.C. Dodge was the third auto
dealer hit in the recent rash of
bombings. An explosive device
went off at S.L. Savidge Dodge
downtown in the early morning of
October 13. An unexploded bomb
was found at Westlund Buick-
Opel-G.M.C. in North Seattle Oc-
tober 7.
Two years ago, the brigade.
claimed’ responsibility for bomb-
ing a City Light power substation
in support of striking utility em-
ployes. That bombing caused
more than $200,000 damage and
knocked power out in the Laurel-
hurst area. °
The brigade, a small terrorist
band with its roots in the prison
movement, has claimed responsi-}
bility for several bombings and
bank robberies in the Northwest |
since 1975. a |
