On March 10th, members of the Seorge Jeckson nrigade rescued our
comrade John W. Sherman fron police custody. John haé@ veen cap~
tured during our unsuccessful atteapt to expropriate $43,000.00
fron ¢heTukwila branch of the Pacific National xvank of Vashington..
A brutal attack by Tukwila police and king County sheriffs left
our comrade sruce Seidel dead, Shernan shot in the jaw, and Shernan
and comrade £d itead in custody. All other participating units
of the Brigade escaped after firing on police from the rea? in an
attempt to assist our three conraces trapped in the bank.
There can be no revolution without money - for weapons, explosives,
survival, organizing, printing, etc. the people are poor. We
will nake the ruling class pay for its own destruction by ex-
"propriating our funds from then ‘and their banks.
Ve have so far identified the following tactical criticisas of
-the Tukwila action: 1) We were unprepared for the level of vio~
lence that the pigs vere willing to bring down on us and the
innocent people in the bank. We should have had better combat
treining.- 2) ‘We waited too long to open fire on the pigs. We
shold have fired without hesitation on the first pig to arrive.
Feilure to do this allowed the police to murder our comrade
while he was trying to surrender, and endangered everyone in the
_ bank. 3) A silent alarm was tripped when we renoved all of the
money from 2 teller'’s drawer. When the phone began to ring to
authenticate the alarn, our comrades should have split inmediately
with whatever they hed in their hends. Instead, they stzyed to
‘elean out the safe. 4) Our coprades across the street should have
bad more firepower than they did. We had an-enornous tactical
advantage which we were unable to exploit because it took so long
' to bring the superior firepoxsr that we did have into action.
5) Our getaway route was excellent. Comrades were able to rezain
in the area, firing on the pigs until the three comrades inside
the bank were taken into custody, and still get away clean.
- Gver all, this action failed because we were not prenared to neet
police terrorisn with a sufficient level of revolution2ry viclence.
In the course of the escane raid it becare necessary to shoot the
police officer guarding Shernan. We did not shoot officer Johnson
‘Gn retaliation for Bruce's murder. In fact, it was our intention
to avoid shooting hin. de was shot because he failed to cooperate
es fully as possible with the comrade tho w2s assigned to hin.
One of the nany lessons we Learnea from Tukwila is that we cannot
afforfto give the police any slack when confronting then. while
we don't particularly want to shoot police, we con't particularly
