’ Airtel to SACs, Portland & Seattle RE: GEORGE JACKSON BRIGADE (GJB) Because of the information developed since August, 1976, indicating that the Gus is a political, revolutionary organization whose purpose is to over~ throw the Government of the United States, and has in- volved itself in a number of bombings in apparant support of its revolutionary objectives, Seattle, as office of origin, should prepare a communication suitable for dissemination under the Domestic Security character, notifying the Department of Justice of institution of a full investigation, as required by the Attorney General's Guidelines for Domestic Security investigations. Include recommendations for further Domestic Security investiga- tion of the GJB, and its members. ‘The Domestic Security investigation should be coordinated very closely with the Bank Robbery & Bombing Matters investigations. Portland should prepare a comnaunication, suit- able for dissemination utilizing the Domestic Security character, reporting activities of the GJB within the Portland Division. Additionally, FBIHQ does not concur with Portiand’s suggestion to report results of the Domestic Security investigation under the Bank Robbery & Bombing Matters characters. Also, Portland should include recomnendations for further investigation of the GJB within its division. Seattle and Portland should submit the requested communications to reach FBIHQ by 11/18/77. NOTE: A preliminary investigation of the GJB was initiated by the Portland Division on July 6, 1977. Investigation con- ducted by Portland indicates that the GJB is becoming politically oriented and has developed into a violent revolutionary organization whose aim is to overthrow the = Government of the United States. Therefore, additional investigation should be conducted by Seattle, which is office of origin, and by Portland, which division has a significant amount of GJB activity. Buded is necessary to avoid any further delay in reporting GJB activities.
