Devartment of Investigation Washington, D.C, Gentlemen: Py We are acting as attorneys for Mr. Theodore (Bentz) Oraig, No. $309, Marquette State Prison, Marouette, Michigan, who was sentenced from Grand Haven for a bank robbery job on August 18, 1933, Mr. Craig claims it is a clear case of mistaken identity, that he had nothing to do with the job and is anxious to have the men anprehended who actually committed the job. _ Mr, Edward ¥) Bentz, who was also connected with the Grand Haven job, was sentenced last Thursday to the Federal Prison at Atlanta, Georgia, for a bank job in Burlington, Vermont. There is no ouestion but that Edward W, Bentz and one EarloDoyle partict-— pated in the Grand Haven job. Doyle ia now eerving time for the same at Marquette, Michigan. Both Graig and Doyle state vositively that Craig had nothing to do with the Grand Haven job, and we expect to vrocure a statement from Fdward W. Bentz to the same effect, wot Mr, Oraig assured us that one BernardaPhillips is the man who actually assisted in robbing the bank and thd man who the witnesses described, but by mistake picked Craig as being Phillivs because of his resemblance. We are trying to locate Phillips and wish you would send us a photograph of him.
