The association gave wide publicity to this self-imposed
restriction and to the Curfew Orcinance. They urged parents and
chiléren to comply with it. a “Curfew Trailer" was provided. This
troiler carricd the message of Chief of Police, Charles Wy. Dallea,
regarding the new curfew Lav. The cost of the procuction and dis-
tribution of this trailer, epproxinately 55,000.00 was handled by the
Association. . ;
The Association reported that its members complain bitterly
of the practice which has become cuite prevalent during tho past two
years, of paronts "parking" «children in theatres. The children
are instructed to sce the show twice, that they will be called for
five or six hours later. These arrangements hava been ciscovered
when the small chilcren become restléss after seoing the show and
start running up anc dawn the aislese . .
It was suggested that in order to have the theatre owners
and their employees constantly aware of the cooperative practices
which wo wish them to foll ow,-a set of rules and policies be prepared
and posted in theatres so that all employees might become acqueinted
with then, .

BARS ,,TAVERNS, LIQUOR STORES: Inspection tours of these
places were made at rroquent Thtorvals. For the most part the tav=
erns were fairly well-lighted, There was substantial evidence of
good faith efforts being made to avoia selling liquor to minors.
In a mmber of places, however, we found that minors, especially
those seventcen years of age and up, still were able to obtain alco-~
hol ic drinks. Liquor store operators particularly often failed to
ascertain the age of youthful customers and woule accept fictitious
letters from parents in some casese :

and liquer dealers selling to minors, C onvictions were obtained
in the majority of these casos. However, whoro it was difficult to
determine the age of the minor, the jury would sometimes acquit the
offender, evon though the law places upon the liquor seller the .
