Dlrectos Sec*y —_ Asa consequence of the Director’ s telephone conversation with Mr. John Miller, Executive Vice President, Hearst Corporation yesterday afternoon, Mr. Miller has now submitted a list of 7 questions which he would like to pose of the Bureau in connection ‘with the matter of a confidential reward for information which would bring this case to a successful conclusion. In this regard, John Clements, Washington representative - of Hearst, stopped by my office at 3 p.m. this afternoon and posed the questions. They are as follows: a) In connection with a reward, what would be a useful amount of money? (2) Where should the money be deposited and | in whose - name? ; ’ (3) Is it intended that the money go to a number of people or in one piece to the FBI? ~ (4) Who will make the payments and in what way? (5) Would it be agreeable that whatever monies of the reward are left at the end of 30 days will be returned to Hearst? (6) Because of the tax situation, would the Hearst Corporation get any sort of f receipt to support this disbursement of funds? (7) Should there be any restrictions by Hearst or the FBI on payment of reward money.
