ANALYSIS OF SURVEILLANCE CAMERA PHOTOGRAPHS
The following analysis of the surveillance cam-
era photogranhs taken during the robbery of the Hibernia
Bank, 22nd and Noriega, San Francisco, California on Avril
15, 1974, was conducted by SA ay
Photographs were taken by two cameras, designated
camera A and camera B. Photographs taken by camera A show
the tellers counter, bank lobby area, and east side of the
bank entrance way. Photograohs taken by camera B show the
area around the safety deposit recentionist counter, the
entrance to the bank maneger's platforn, and generally the ©
west side of the entrance way of the bank.
of the Hermann Safe Company, 1699 Market Street, San Fran-
cisco, California, which services the Mosler cameras, used
to take the below described vhotographs, has indicated that
the ‘cameras are set to take pictures at the rate of four
frames per second. The lens aperture on both cameras is
set at £5.6, and the shutter speed is set at 1/100 of a
second. The film utilized in taking the below described
photographs was Kodak 400 Surveillance Film (Improved),
having an ASA rating of 400.
Computations of elapsed time are based on the
rate of four frames per second, beginning at the time of
activation of the camera. It should be realized that due
to possible variation in the speed and possible errors in
numbering prints, the elapsed times are provided only as
an aoproximation. The set of photographs from camera B
seemed to begin avproximately 1/2 second before the photo-
graphs from camera A, so that frame A16, for example, de-
picts the same action as frame B18.
The cameras were activated by nae tianager dealt
» who was upstairs at the time of the robbery and ac-
tivated the cameras and the alerm after hearing shouting
dovm below and looking throush a one-way mirror window,
observing two females standing in the lobby with rifles or
machine mins.
