The Laboratory is requested to conduct an exemination
of the typing whic’. appears on Items 1 through 3 in order to
Getermiine the maxe of typewriter or typewriters used. The
Laboratory is als: requested to compare this typing with other
typewritten messages that may have been received in the HEARNAP
investigation.
The laboratory is also requested to conduct latent
fingerprint examination specifically in the area of the stamns
on stom 3. In view of the Fact that this envelope was used to
transmit Items 1 and 2, it has apparently been handied by tuo
many persens to obtein any fingerprints from any other area;
however, tho air mzil Sstainps might have been pressed firniv
on by the sender and fingerprints may renein.
For the information of the Bureau. the Lahoratory,
‘and San Francisco, Items 1, 2 and 3 were handled by most ox
the employees connected with the Shreveosit Journal prior to
sending them to the Shreveport Resident Agency. It is thercfore
felt that processing of these items for fingerprints would he
futile. — -
It aprears that the Shreveport Journal newspaper article.
entitied "If the Guerrillas Unitg was copied by the incividual
identifying himself as Grour Leater Hong, after which he crossed
out the word "If" and substituted WHEN" in its place. The
article was then forwarded by letter dated 4-15-74 to the
Editor of the Shrevenort Journals. It appears that this transiitcing
letter was copied on a larger shect of peper, after which the
date "15 April, 1974" and the salutation “Editor, Shreveport
Journal:” was typed in.
