Attached are the details furnished by the Los Angeles Office of the incident which occurred in Inglewood, California, on 5/16/74 wherein Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA) members were involved in a shooting incident. It is noted that there is a discrepancy in the eyewitness accounts of the participants; namely, 2 white males and 1 white female © observed by Shepard while witness Pierre .-~ Gescribes 1 white male and 1 white female and (witness Patin who Los Angeles Office believes is best witness states 2 white females and 1 white male were observed by hin. We have discussed these discrepancies with the Los Angeles Office and these are the accurate accounts as reported by the witnesses. Los Angeles just advised that on 5/16/74 between 5:30 and 6:00 pm, a woman knocked at the door of the Matthews residence in Lynwood, California, a suburb of Los Angeles. Tom Dean Matthews, a teenager, had a 1969 dark blue Ford Van parked in front of the residence with a "for sale" sign. Tom Matthews took the woman to see the Van. This morning his father noted Tom was missing as was the Ford Van. Located in the immediate vicinity of the Matthews’ residence was the 1963 Nova Station Wagon stolen from Patin 5/16/74.
