Mr. J } ins . Dieacter $ec‘'y — As you are aware we have utilized the computer for the storage and location of information in our files concerning the Watergate investigation. The printout utilized in this connection has been of fantastic value in locating in a minimum of time certain information. Mr, Kelley is aware of the utilization of the computer in the Watergate case and has in the past suggested similar utilization in other major : cases. At 5:35 p.m., 2/7/74, while I was discussing captioned case with Mr. Kelley he suggested that this case might be a good one to d test the utilization of the computer in connection with a major case. IT agreed with Mr. Kelley and have already been in contact with Mr. Campbell of the Computer Systems Division and arrangements are being made with the Computer Systems Division for a program ta similar to the Watergate case. i - ACTION: Upon completion of the case an analysis will be made of : the benefits derived from the utilization of the computer in connection with this case for our guidance in utilizing similar methods in other major cases of short duration, —— ee “See . 8 FEB. 1974
