Gyro BUREAU OF nvesreao eg ber 2/11/74 - WEED was telephonically contacted by: SA at the HEARST residence in Hillsborough to ad knowledge as to whether PATRICIA HEARST ts wallet had been taken trom her apartment by the abductors on February 4, 1974. . WEED advised that upon his release from the University . of California Hospital on February 9, 1974, he was driven by FBI Agents to his apartment at 2603 Benvenue, Apartment 4, where he located PATRICIA'ts brown leather purse. He stated he’ immediately . searched. this purse and determined that a small tan wallet and a small cloth multicolored change bag with a drawstring had been removed from her purse. WEED advised this wallet actually belonged to him but was being utilized by PATRICIA. He described it as being yellow- tan in color and square in shape, approximately 4" X 4", He made a telephone call to his mother in Santa Rosa, California, this same date and ascertained from her that she had purchased it for him from a mail order house at Atlantic City, New Jersey, which ' she recalled as Spencer Gifts. WEED advised that his initials, "SAW", were embossed in 4" gold letters in one of the outside corners of this wallet. WEED stated he recalls the following items to be contained in the wallet: 1. AAA Identification Card in the name of RANDOLPH A. HEARS ; ; e 2. University of California, Berkeley, orange or red registration card in the name of PATRICIA HEARST. 3.
