On 2/8/74 former ‘Special. Agent Willian HL “Stapleton. sho is
now Assistant Staff Director, House Committee on Internal Security
(HCIS), furnished to Inspector Bowers a 14=page background paper
n the SLA relating to some of its members and activities. A review
f this paper by the Intelligence Division revealed six separate —_
items of apparent significance to the SLA which had not previously ~
been called to the attention of the Intelligence Division by the
San Francisco Office. Accordingly, a copy of this paper had been
___......8eat to San Francisco and had been received prior to the writer's
em-u-.-.8¥rival there, The HCIS paper contained information reportedly ~~
: secured from public sources, The information related to material ~
which had been found in a Sutherland Court house formerly occupied ---
by one of the principal suspects in this case, Nancy Ling Perry. -
j- ~ Bhe had set fire to this house on the day of the arrest of Russell
Little and Joseph Remiro who had been charged with the murder of ©
Marcus Foster, Superintendent of the Oakland School District. The
\HCIS report referred to other information seized by the Oakiand |
Police Department as a result of searches of a house at 5939 Chabot .
Road, Oakland, which had been one of Little's residences and certain
. other addresses where persons suspected of having SLA connections

‘Upon arrival in San Francisco, the writer discussed with :
-ASAC Druken the material which HCIS had secured but which apparently
t the San Francisco Office did not have. Druken said that efforts
[be been made to secure the material recovered by the Oakland Police
[Department, but there was playing the case close to his
chest as a murder case and had declined toa turn over to our San
Francisco Office pertinent material. -After the kidnapping of
