O° on 6 6 ii.e., the proletariat) is anyone who has no power over their activities and the uses to which they are put, because they must sell them to somehody else. This does not refer to those benevolent “servants of the people" whose real wish is not . the power of the proletariat but their power over the © proletariat, whether they be white, black, brown, yellow or red bureaucrats. Just look at China, Russia, and Cuha. In this respect, life there is the same as here: you take orders; you work for somebody else. These countries are still 7 capitalist, only there, the state is the capitalist!!! aia oe > al ite Ti ane Once we are running things for ourselves, instead of following orders from the people who extort our time ~=- the ° The SLA idea of “separate, sovereign nations” is. backward and _ bourgeois. We will have to plantproduction on a world-wide scale to “get what we want; -~what people all over the world use every day already comes fromiall parts ofthe world, not just-- . their own part. But it is-vital that we keep control over _ what is planned and what is produced, and not give up this power to some new-bureaucracy. This means that we will have to ordanize on the basis of councils -- assemblies of ati the people concerned in communities, factories, offices, farms, etc., which make all decisions which concern themselves alone, and coordinate larger decisions by sending deputies to city- wide and regional councils, and finally to a world council. These deputies must not be representatives, elected on the basis of personality, to make decisions for us, but should be selected to carry decisions already made by the workers' assomblies to the city, regional, and world coordinating councils. The assemblies must be-able- to recall the deputy right away if -he or she deviates .ffrom, those decisions. (t o af “2 3 wu yam 0. rt > 0 & ie] RK ran + . The brothers and sisters of the SLA are on the wrong road, a roaa ‘that leads to sacrifice and defeat. Political power ‘does not come primarily out of the harrel of a gun, but out of control over the means of production and out of new social relationships. The revolution must oppose all nationalism, hecause . national "independence" in the modern world is a myth. Ins ead, we stand for the interdependence of working humanity, ‘whichis already a concrete fact. The freedom we will discover in overthrowing capitalism and in running society together goes far beyond any “national freedom". inten . , . nn fied
